Preparation

The all important information for achieving the perfect lawn.

THE CORRECT WAY:

We ALWAYS remove old lawn, and by that we mean strip off old lawn to just below root level.

THE WRONG WAY:

Giving it a cut with a lawn mower is not removing an old lawn! Any company that says it is fine to rotavate (dig in) your old lawn or weeds is incorrect and should be avoided at all costs! Covering an existing lawn with soil and turfing over is also bad practice.

Correct preparation is as follows:

Step 1

Step 2

Remove old lawn and/or weeds. We use a state of the art turf-cutter to do the above (we are licensed waste carriers and old lawn and/or weeds are taken away by us, inclusive of price).

Now we have a nice bare piece of ground which we can rotavate (that means break up the soil down to 6” (150mm).

Step 3

Step 4

Rake it roughly level.

Firm it. This is very important as it removes air pockets which may cause the lawn to sink at a later date.

Step 5

Step 6

Rake it perfectly level.

Turf it with your required turf (to be honest, this is the easy bit).

Step 7

Step 8

Clear up all the mess (usually very little)

We then explain aftercare to client and leave a written copy of aftercare that is specific to the type of turf chosen and time of year it was laid.
